CITY OF MONCALIERI
The City of Moncalieri exerts
its powers with the following aims:
- to safeguard and promote
constitutional rights concerning the dignity
and freedom of all people,
combating all forms of discrimination;
- to help implement the right of
citizens to work, healthcare, accommodation, education,
and equal training and cultural opportunities in the respect
of freedom of education;
- to achieve balanced economic
development of the city;
- to promote respect for life and
social security, removing the causes of marginalisation
with particular attention to minors and the aged, and to
the rights of the disabled, to an accessible city and the
network of services and operations to facilitate social
integration, increasing job opportunities;
- to safeguard the family
in full recognition of its role in society;
- to actively guarantee equal life
and work opportunities for men and women and to eliminate
discrimination based on sexual preferences;
- to safeguard life and work
environments by removing the causes of deterioration and
pollution, and promoting respect for nature and animals;
- to develop, also at the
national and international level, the historical, artistic,
cultural and environmental heritage of the city, and to
promote knowledge of piedmontese cultural traditions and
other particular cultures within the community;
- to develop social congregation,
safeguarding its autonomy and stimulating private initiatives,
social cooperation, voluntary services and associations;
Within the framework of the objectives outlined in section
a), the municipal administration of Moncalieri has
incorporated, by deliberation no. 278/94 of the council,
the Committee for equal opportunities
between men and women with the aim of drawing up
proposals to promote true equal opportunities in work conditions
and careers within the authority.
As part of its own programme for social intervention in
favour of NON-EC citizens
and for the elimination of obstacles which prevent equal
opportunities between men and women, the City
of Moncalieri has, since 1999,
put into place a strategy (planned in collaboration with
Tampep) to monitor the phenomenon
and implementation of actions to eliminate the segregation
of female victims of slavery.
This is a research-intervention project
to implement and disseminate new strategies and work methodologies
with immigrant prostitutes in Europe
which is now currently operating in the City of Moncalieri.
It provides for direct involvement of prostitutes and tools
devised to ensure their safety and
health.
