PROJECT
SUMMARY
One of the main problems that
victims of trafficking in persons and forced prostitution
face in the Netherlands, is
their limited freedom of choice
and the limited possibilities to
work on their future again. Very little is done to
support these women in the field of education and work experience.
The DP aims to work on this
problem from the different experiences
of each organisation. The activities will be adjusted
to the needs, interests
and capacities of the target
group. Within the project new experimental
training models will be developed, specifically for
this target group, with the aim to strengthen their position
on the labour market. Furthermore, a direct link will be
made with the labour market
in the countries of origin,
especially in Central and Eastern Europe. Besides that,
at the European level a start will be made to strengthen
a European network among organisations
and institutions providing
(re)integration
support for these women.
The overall aim of the project is to improve
the integration possibilities of victims of trafficking
in persons and forced prostitution into the labour
market in the Netherlands
or in their countries of origin.
Specific aims are:
- To offer integrated education
and job training possibilities;
- To improve the access to
the labour market in the countries of origin;
- And mainstreaming towards
the Dutch government and the
European Union on the issue
of labour possibilities for victims of trafficking in persons
and forced prostitution;
The target group of the project
are the persons that have become victims
of trafficking in human beings and/or forced prostitution
in the Netherlands. This include both the persons
that pressed charges against their traffickers and are included
in the so-called B-9 programme,
but also others that decided not to do so or that have applied
for a prolongation of their stay. Some of them do have the
permission to stay in the Netherlands, but they do not have
access to social services. All these persons, with legal,
semi-legal or irregular status, form part of the target
group of this project.
ACTIVITIES
The activities that will be carried out are research, networking,
development of new training models, improving the access
to the existing training possibilities, lobby and dissemination.
